After a long and satisfying
film career, Les turned his attention to his first love,
writing. His first published work was for Linda Gail
Lewis, sister of Jerry Lee Lewis. Entitled THE DEVIL,
ME AND JERRY LEE, the book garnered rave reviews from critics
and readers around the globe.
Biography
Les was born
and raised in Newport News, Virginia. His early years were
spent on small sailboats plying the waters of the James River. At
that time, the South was still a quiet, sleepy scene where William
Faulkner would have felt completely at home. Dirt roads,
antebellum homes, giant oaks and just plain country folks fill
his memories of those gentler times. At seventeen, Les
headed off to college in North Carolina, his adopted home where
he has remained to this day. Les had almost given up on
romance when he met the love of his life, Susanne a.k.a. "Essie" who
made his golden years truly golden. For a partly fictionalized
account of their romance, read THE SEA LES TRAVELED. This
book, born of Les's many experiences while sailing, combines
his love for boats and water with the story of how he and Susanne
met and fell in love. Full of "mostly true" tales of
romance and adventure this story will leave you wanting more. This
highly successful book now has a sequel on the way.
During
the course of his life, Les always sought out new trails
and threw aside security for a chance to chase his dreams. This
long and winding path now serves as a wonderful backdrop
for his novels. They are so real and vivid you will
know instantly he has been there and did not have to imagine
what they must have looked like. |
THE
SEA LES TRAVELED
The
compelling and mostly true tale of a man who could no longer
wake up and face the same old rat race. His failing
marriage and unfulfilled dreams had all but drained the life
force from him. He felt his only escape would be to
board a small sailboat and head South where clear water and
palm trees existed for real and not just in his dreams. This
desperate step would lead to more adventure than he ever
dreamed and a great love to share it with. This story
will start you thinking about the "what ifs" in
your own life. |
